Cancelling headphones under $100, and how each one's cancellation is actually described. What we can't tell you is which cancels best, because that needs ears and we have not used any.

Which of these cancels best?

Nobody here can tell you, and the refusal is the point. How much noise a headphone actually removes is the variable that matters most at this price and it is the one nothing on this page can settle: these have been on nobody's head, there are no measurements behind them, and cheap cancellation runs from genuinely useful to barely detectable.

So treat this as a verified list rather than a verdict. Every product here is one whose manufacturer describes powered cancellation that the wearer hears (not a transparency mode, not a noise-cancelling microphone) and whose price we saw on a real page on a recorded date.

If you want to know which of them actually works, that is a question for a site with a test lab, and pointing you at one beats pretending to be it.

Why do two brands account for eight of the nine?

Because the established audio makers mostly start their cancelling ranges higher, and the two brands that built an identity on cheap cancellation dominate what is left. Soundcore and JLab account for most of this page; the exception is Belkin SoundForm ANC Wired Earbuds (USB-C).

That concentration is the shape of the budget cancelling market rather than a bias in our research.

That matters because it means "which brand" is barely a choice at this price. The real choices are over-ear or earbuds, and how much of the specification the maker is willing to publish.

Should you get over-ear or earbuds at this price?

Over-ear, if the room you want quieter is an office or a train. Five of the nine are over-ear and four are earbuds, and the over-ear cup buys you a physical seal that blocks the higher frequencies cancellation is bad at, which is why over-ear cancelling headphones tend to feel more effective even when the circuitry is comparable. Earbuds get you a pocket. Soundcore P40i and Soundcore Liberty 4 NC are the two with the most published detail; JLab Epic Sport ANC 3 is the sport-fit option.

So: over-ear is the safer buy at this price if the noise is the problem, and the earbuds are here if you need something that disappears into a bag.

How much do the makers actually publish at this price?

Very little, and this is where the budget end gives itself away. Three of the nine have a battery-life figure in hours in the table below, and Soundcore Space One is the only one we found a codec list or two-device pairing for. Several say only "active noise cancelling" without naming a topology.

Our table marks those gaps "Not recorded" rather than filling them in, and that is deliberate: an absent figure means we did not find one published, not that the answer is zero. Where the specification is thin, the thing you are really buying is the brand's willingness to stand behind the product, which is one of the reasons this site excludes unbranded listings entirely.

What does crossing $100 buy you?

More published specification, mostly, and adaptive rather than fixed cancellation. The immediate step up in the same range is Soundcore Space Q45. It was seen at $149.99 on 22 Sep 2026; check the current price.

Further up, cancellation stops being the headline feature and becomes assumed. Bose QuietComfort Headphones was seen at $169 on 10 Oct 2026; check the current price. It adds a transparency mode and a quoted 24-hour battery, and the products above it compete on comfort and sound rather than on whether they cancel.

Whether the jump is worth it is exactly the judgement we cannot make for you from specifications alone. What we can say is that the specification sheets get considerably more detailed above the line, which is itself information.

Common questions

Is cheap ANC worth having at all?

Specifications cannot answer that, and dressing one up as if it could would be worse than saying so. What is documented is that all nine of these describe powered cancellation the wearer hears, and that the topologies vary: hybrid, adaptive, or unnamed.

What is also true regardless of price: cancellation works on steady low noise and much less well on speech, so if the thing bothering you is a conversation, a good seal matters more than the circuitry.

Which of these has the best battery life?

Three give a figure. Soundcore Space One quotes 40 hours with cancelling on; Soundcore P40i quotes 12 hours in the buds and 60 with the case; Soundcore Liberty 4 NC quotes 10 and 50. We did not find a battery figure for anything else on this page.

Beyond those three we cannot say. Bear in mind that an earbud's larger figure counts the recharges its case supplies, so the fair comparison with an over-ear is the figure for the buds alone.

Can I get cancelling headphones with a cable?

One on this page cancels on the cable's power alone: Belkin SoundForm ANC Wired Earbuds (USB-C). It takes its power from USB, which is one of the two ways a cancelling headphone can get it. The other is a battery, and a headphone with a battery can cancel over an ordinary analogue cable as well.

Why are most of these one brand?

Because that brand has built its range around cheap cancellation while most established audio makers start theirs higher. Five of the nine are Soundcore and three are JLab.

It is worth being upfront about rather than shuffling the list to look more varied: a roundup that hides its own concentration is less useful, not more.

Is my headset's "noise cancelling" the same as this?

Check what noun follows the phrase. If it is "noise-cancelling microphone", that improves what other people hear on your calls and does nothing about the noise reaching your own ears.

Prices at this end of the market move fast and a large share of these were promotional when we saw them.

There is no listening behind this article. Not one of these headphones has been worn by anybody working on this site, so nothing here compares how much noise they remove or how they fit. A verified list of products that have a feature is a different thing from a ranking of how well they do it, and only the first is available to us.
