How does the Life Q20's noise cancelling work?
Soundcore calls its cancelling Hybrid ANC, and says its engineers tuned the Life Q20's 4 built-in ANC microphones and digital active noise cancellation algorithm. Active cancelling uses microphones to pick up outside sound and plays an opposing signal to cancel it out, and hybrid means there are microphones both outside and inside the ear cup.
Soundcore says the hybrid system can "detect and cancel out a wider range of low and mid-frequency noises such as cars and airplane engines," and it claims a reduction in ambient noise of up to 90%. For calls, it lists a single microphone with uplink noise reduction. There's more on what the words on a headphone box mean in our guide: What “noise cancelling” actually means on a headphone box.
How long does the Life Q20's battery last, and what are its sound specs?
Soundcore quotes 60 hours with ANC off and 40 hours with ANC on, and its product page gives the 40-hour figure at 60% volume. A 5-minute charge gives 4 hours of listening, Soundcore says, and its user manual gives a charging time of 3 hours.
Soundcore lists Hi-Res certified sound via 40mm dynamic drivers, and its user manual lists an impedance of 16 Ω and a frequency response of 16 Hz - 40 KHz. There's more on what driver size, impedance and frequency response tell you in our guide: What do headphone specs actually mean? Frequency response, impedance and driver size.
