Licensing & Third-Party Materials
Effective Date: August 31, 2026
Last Updated: August 31, 2026
QuickDesker creates its own editorial content and also relies on software, factual information, trademarks, and other materials originating with third parties.
This page explains the distinction.
1. The Short Version
QuickDesker's original articles, comparisons, recommendations, rankings, analysis, organization, design, and other original Site content belong to QuickDesker or its applicable licensors and are not offered to the public under an open-source or Creative Commons license.
Product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
QuickDesker may use factual product information obtained from manufacturers, retailers, marketplaces, documentation, and other sources. The fact that information came from a third-party source does not mean that QuickDesker claims ownership of that source's intellectual property.
QuickDesker also uses open-source software. Rights in that software remain subject to the applicable open-source licenses.
Where a third-party license requires attribution, preservation of a copyright notice, reproduction of license terms, or another notice, QuickDesker provides that information as appropriate, including through our Third-Party Notices page.
Nothing on this page grants you rights to QuickDesker content beyond the rights provided in the Terms of Use.
2. QuickDesker Content
Except where otherwise identified, QuickDesker's original editorial and Site content is proprietary.
This includes, as applicable:
- articles and buying guides;
- product comparisons;
- editorial analysis;
- verdicts and recommendations;
- rankings and selections;
- original descriptions and commentary;
- scoring and evaluation methodologies;
- original graphics;
- Site design and presentation;
- original software and code;
- databases or compilations to the extent protected by applicable law; and
- the selection, organization, and arrangement of Site content.
QuickDesker reserves all rights in that content except for the limited right to access and use the Site granted under the QuickDesker Terms of Use.
Unless QuickDesker expressly says otherwise, publication on the Site does not place QuickDesker content in the public domain and does not license it for republication, commercial reuse, automated extraction, competing databases, or artificial-intelligence training.
The Terms of Use contain the controlling provisions concerning permitted and prohibited use of QuickDesker content.
3. Product Facts and Research Sources
QuickDesker researches products using information that may originate from manufacturers, retailers, marketplaces, sellers, technical documentation, published research, independent reviewers, public sources, and other third parties.
Product information may include facts such as:
- dimensions;
- weight;
- connectivity;
- compatibility;
- switch or sensor type;
- battery specifications;
- listed features;
- model numbers;
- available configurations;
- manufacturer warranty information; and
- other product characteristics.
QuickDesker does not claim ownership of facts merely because those facts appear on the Site.
At the same time, copyright or other rights may exist in a third party's original photographs, artwork, prose, databases, graphics, or other expressive material. QuickDesker does not claim ownership of those materials merely because the underlying product or factual information is discussed here.
Where QuickDesker summarizes or reorganizes third-party information, the resulting QuickDesker editorial presentation may contain QuickDesker-owned expression or compilation rights while the underlying third-party rights remain unaffected.
For information about how QuickDesker conducts its research, see the About and Methodology page.
4. Product Names, Brands, and Trademarks
Product names, company names, logos, trademarks, service marks, and other brand identifiers appearing on QuickDesker belong to their respective owners.
QuickDesker uses such names and marks to identify, describe, compare, comment on, or refer users to the applicable products or companies.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, their use does not imply:
- sponsorship;
- endorsement;
- partnership;
- affiliation;
- authorization;
- agency; or
- ownership by QuickDesker.
Nothing on this Site grants any license to use a third party's trademark or other intellectual property.
5. Images and Other Third-Party Media
QuickDesker does not currently intentionally publish manufacturer or third-party product photography as part of its editorial product listings unless the material is specifically authorized or otherwise lawfully used.
Where third-party photographs, logos, icons, illustrations, video, screenshots, or other media are added in the future, QuickDesker may use them pursuant to:
- a license;
- written permission;
- applicable retailer, manufacturer, marketplace, or affiliate-program terms;
- an open-content license;
- an applicable legal exception or limitation; or
- another lawful basis.
Ownership of third-party material remains with the applicable rights holder.
Where the terms applicable to particular material require attribution or another notice, QuickDesker will provide that notice in the manner reasonably appropriate to the material and the applicable terms.
The absence of an attribution requirement does not mean that QuickDesker claims ownership of third-party material.
QuickDesker does not treat the mere presence of an image in a search engine, retailer listing, social-media post, or other publicly accessible location as permission to reproduce it.
6. Retailer and Affiliate Materials
QuickDesker may participate in affiliate, referral, marketplace, or retailer programs.
Those programs may permit QuickDesker to display certain product information, trademarks, links, images, pricing information, advertising materials, or other content subject to the program's terms.
Material supplied through such a program remains subject to the applicable third party's rights and terms.
QuickDesker's use of that material does not transfer ownership of it to QuickDesker and does not authorize Site visitors to copy or reuse it independently.
For information concerning compensated links and referral relationships, see QuickDesker's Affiliate Disclosure & Disclaimers.
7. Open-Source Software
QuickDesker is built using open-source software.
Open-source components may be used in several different ways. Some may be incorporated into software delivered to a visitor's browser. Others may operate only on servers, hosting infrastructure, development systems, or build systems.
The presence of a package in a package manager file, dependency tree, or lockfile does not necessarily mean that the package itself—or any particular portion of it—is distributed to Site visitors.
Similarly, a package that participates in building the Site is not necessarily part of the resulting browser code.
QuickDesker therefore does not characterize every installed dependency as software “served” to users solely because it appears in the project's dependency tree.
Instead, QuickDesker maintains third-party license and notice information intended to preserve notices and comply with applicable license conditions where those conditions apply.
8. Third-Party Notices
Open-source components remain licensed by their respective copyright holders under their applicable licenses.
QuickDesker's Third-Party Notices page identifies licenses, notices, attributions, and other information maintained for third-party software and data used in connection with the Site.
Where an applicable license requires the preservation or reproduction of:
- copyright notices;
- permission notices;
- disclaimers;
- license text;
- attribution;
- NOTICE-file content; or
- similar information,
QuickDesker intends to preserve or provide that information as required by the applicable license.
The Third-Party Notices page may include components that operate only as build tools, server-side dependencies, development dependencies, optional dependencies, or transitive dependencies. Their inclusion is not a representation that each listed component is transmitted to your browser.
Conversely, bundling, compiling, minifying, tree-shaking, or otherwise transforming software may make individual package boundaries impossible to identify in production files. The notices are intended to preserve applicable third-party rights notwithstanding those technical transformations.
The Third-Party Notices page may be updated as dependencies change.
9. Open-Source Licenses Do Not Apply to QuickDesker as a Whole
Use of open-source software does not mean that the QuickDesker website, its editorial content, databases, design, branding, or proprietary code are themselves open source.
Each open-source license applies only to the software or other material covered by that license and to any additional material to which the license legally applies according to its terms.
Except where expressly stated, QuickDesker does not license its own content under the MIT License, Apache License, BSD licenses, Creative Commons licenses, GNU licenses, or any other third-party license listed in the Third-Party Notices.
10. No Endorsement by Open-Source Authors
The presence of third-party open-source software in QuickDesker does not mean that the authors, maintainers, contributors, foundations, companies, or communities responsible for that software:
- endorse QuickDesker;
- sponsor QuickDesker;
- approve QuickDesker's content;
- participate in QuickDesker's recommendations; or
- are responsible for QuickDesker.
Names of open-source projects and their authors are used only as necessary to identify the applicable software and licensing information.
11. Third-Party Software Is Provided Under Its Own Terms
Third-party software is provided under the terms and warranty disclaimers contained in its applicable license.
Nothing QuickDesker says elsewhere on the Site modifies, restricts, or expands the rights granted by an applicable open-source license with respect to material actually covered by that license.
If an open-source license grants you rights directly from its copyright holder, those rights arise under that license rather than from QuickDesker.
12. Browser-Support and Other Licensed Data
Some software tools used in modern web development incorporate or rely upon third-party datasets, including browser-compatibility information.
Where QuickDesker distributes, reproduces, or otherwise uses licensed data in a manner requiring attribution, the applicable attribution will be preserved through the Third-Party Notices or another appropriate location.
Third-party data remains subject to its applicable license and ownership.
13. Fonts
QuickDesker currently uses system-font stacks rather than intentionally serving proprietary font files from QuickDesker.
A system-font stack instructs your device to display text using fonts already available to it.
If QuickDesker later begins distributing or externally loading licensed font files, applicable licensing or attribution information will be added where appropriate.
14. Emoji and System-Rendered Symbols
The Site may use ordinary Unicode characters, including emoji.
Where those characters are rendered by your operating system or browser using fonts installed on your device, QuickDesker is not distributing the font or artwork used by your device to render them.
If QuickDesker later distributes a separate icon, emoji, or illustration library, the applicable licensing information will be addressed in the Third-Party Notices or another appropriate location.
15. Changes to Dependencies and Third-Party Materials
QuickDesker's software dependencies and third-party materials may change over time.
Packages may be:
- added;
- removed;
- upgraded;
- replaced;
- bundled differently; or
- used differently as the Site changes.
Accordingly, a historical dependency list should not be treated as a permanent description of the software currently used by QuickDesker.
QuickDesker may update this page and its Third-Party Notices as its software and content change.
16. No Additional License Granted
Except as expressly stated in the Terms of Use or an applicable third-party license, nothing on this Licensing page:
- grants a license to QuickDesker intellectual property;
- grants a license to third-party intellectual property;
- waives any intellectual-property right;
- places material in the public domain; or
- authorizes copying, scraping, redistribution, republication, commercial exploitation, or model training.
17. Reporting a Licensing or Rights Concern
QuickDesker wants licensing and attribution information to be accurate.
If you believe:
- material belonging to you appears on QuickDesker without authorization;
- a required attribution is missing;
- a copyright or license notice is incomplete;
- a third-party license has been identified incorrectly; or
- QuickDesker's description of your rights is inaccurate,
please contact hello@quickdesker.com and identify the material, where it appears, and the nature of the concern.
QuickDesker may investigate, correct, attribute, restrict, or remove material as appropriate without conceding that the challenged use was unlawful.
