How good is the HERO 2 sensor?
Logitech's support specifications name the sensor HERO 2 25K. Its pages give two figures for the top of the resolution range: the product page's spec list says 100 to 32,000 DPI, while its feature copy and the support specifications say up to 44,000 DPI. DPI sets how far the cursor travels for each inch the mouse moves.
The support specifications put the maximum report rate at 8000 Hz (0.125ms). Report rate, also called polling rate, is how many times a second the mouse tells your computer where it is. Logitech gives a maximum speed of more than 888 IPS (inches per second) and a maximum acceleration of more than 88 G, and its product page lists zero smoothing, acceleration and filtering. How DPI and polling rate differ in practice is covered in our guide DPI vs polling rate: which mouse number actually matters?
How long does the battery last, and how does it connect?
Logitech's support specifications quote 95 hours of constant motion from the rechargeable battery. It connects through the USB LIGHTSPEED adapter, and Logitech says LIGHTSPEED is designed for tournament play and ensures total reliability even in extreme RF environments.
The support specifications list USB speeds for both wired and wireless use, and give a cable length of 1.8m; the cable in the box is listed as a USB A to C charging/data cable. What each connection trades away is covered in our guide Wired, 2.4 GHz or Bluetooth: which mouse connection is actually fastest?
What do reviewers say?
Click speed gets the praise. One review found click latency exceptionally low; another found it very low. Logitech says its LIGHTFORCE hybrid switches combine the speed and reliability of optical switches with the low power consumption and clicky feel of a mechanical microswitch, and rates them for 70 million clicks.
