Logitech Wave Keys

Logitech Wave Keys

Is the Wave Keys right for you?

The Wave Keys is a wireless ergonomic keyboard in what Logitech calls a compact layout with a number pad, and it connects by a Logi Bolt USB receiver or Bluetooth Low Energy.

Best for

  • People who type on more than one device. Logitech says you can pair up to 3 and switch between them with the Easy-Switch keys, and the keys carry a dual printed layout for Windows and Mac.
  • Anyone who wants a palm rest built in. Logitech says it has a 3-layer cushioned palm rest with memory foam, and that its "wave-shaped, compact key layout" brings "hands and elbows into a natural position."

Skip if

  • You'd want to take the palm rest off. Logitech says the integrated cushioned palm rest is permanently attached.
  • You'd rather recharge a keyboard than swap batteries. It takes 2 AAA batteries, Logitech says.

A number pad adds width to a keyboard; which size suits your desk is covered in our guide Full-size, TKL or compact: which keyboard size should you get?

Want to see it next to a mouse and a headset? Try it on the QuickDesker board and build a whole desk setup around it.

What does it cost, and what should you check first?

How hard do you press the keys on the Wave Keys, and how far do they travel?

Logitech's support specifications give the keyboard type as Plunger, with 50g of actuation force (55g for the spacebar) and 2.5mm of total travel. A press registers 1.5mm down, Logitech says.

Actuation force is how hard you press before a key registers. A full-height mechanical switch typically travels about 4 mm. How mechanical switches compare with other key mechanisms is covered in our guide Mechanical vs. membrane keyboards: which should you actually buy?

How long do the batteries last, and how does it connect?

Logitech's support specifications quote 36 months from the batteries and say you can replace them yourself.

Logitech lists a battery indicator light and an on/off power switch. Keep two spare AAAs in a drawer.

It connects by the Logi Bolt USB receiver or Bluetooth Low Energy, Logitech says, and the Easy-Switch keys move it between up to 3 paired devices.
