Logitech Signature M650

Logitech Signature M650

Is the M650 right for you?

The M650 is a five-button mouse that connects by Bluetooth or a Logi Bolt USB receiver and runs on a single AA battery.

Best for

  • Anyone who'd like quieter clicks. Logitech marks the left and right buttons and the wheel's middle click silent.
  • People who'd rather not think about the battery. Logitech quotes up to 24 months on one AA with the Logi Bolt receiver.

Skip if

  • You'd rather plug a mouse in to charge it. It runs on one AA, and Logitech marks its battery life as not rechargeable.

Want to see it next to a keyboard and a headset? Try it on the QuickDesker board and build a whole desk setup around it.

Prices change; check the one for the version and colour you want. Logitech sells it in three versions: the Signature M650 in Graphite, Rose, Off-white and Black, the Signature M650 L in Graphite, Off-white, Red, Blue and Black, and the Signature M650 L Left in Graphite. Logitech recommends the M650 L Left for left-handed users, and its support specifications weigh the M650 at 101.4 g and the M650 L at 115.4 g.

In the box, Logitech's support specifications list the mouse, a Logi Bolt receiver and one AA battery, both inside the mouse, plus user documentation. The warranty is a one-year limited hardware warranty.

How long does the AA battery last on each connection?

Logitech quotes up to 24 months on the single AA with the Logi Bolt USB receiver, and up to 20 months over Bluetooth. Either way there's nothing to charge: when the AA runs flat, you swap in a fresh one.

The receiver needs a free USB port, and Logitech puts the wireless range at 10 m. How a receiver link and Bluetooth compare is covered in our guide Wired, 2.4 GHz or Bluetooth: which mouse connection is actually fastest?

What do the M650's buttons and SmartWheel do?

Logitech lists five buttons: left and right click, back and forward, and a scroll wheel with middle click, plus a connectivity button.

Logitech calls the wheel a SmartWheel and says it gives line-by-line precision when you need it and scrolls super fast through lengthy pages, switching modes with a flick of your finger.

Logitech rates the silent left and right buttons for 5 million clicks, and the wheel's silent middle click for 1 million. There's more on what a silent-click claim does and doesn't cover in our guide: Which Mice Have Silent Clicks, and What Do They Cover?

What do reviewers say?

Two reviews found it well made. One called it comfortable; another found it could become uncomfortable after about five hours of continuous use.
