In the box, Logitech lists the mouse, a Logi Bolt USB receiver (USB Type A), a USB-C charging cable (USB-A to USB-C) and user documentation. A USB-A plug doesn't fit a USB-C port without an adapter. Logitech's product page lists a two-year limited hardware warranty.
How does it connect, and how long does a charge last?
Logitech lists the connection as a Logi Bolt USB receiver and Bluetooth Low Energy. It says Logi Bolt is fully encrypted and FIPS compliant when paired with the included receiver. An Easy-Switch button, Logitech says, switches it between up to three computers. Logitech puts the wireless range at 10 m, adding that it may vary.
Logitech quotes 70 days on a full charge from the 500 mAh rechargeable Li-Po battery, which charges over USB-C. Logitech's Sync hub specifications put an empty-to-full charge at 2 hours, and say a 3-minute charge gives a day of use.
What do the MX Master 3S's buttons and wheels do?
Logitech lists seven customizable buttons: left and right click, back and forward, App-Switch, wheel mode-shift and middle click. Logitech calls the main wheel a MagSpeed wheel with smart-shift, and its mode shift button toggles it between ratchet and free-spin modes. Logitech's product page, datasheet and support specifications give a maximum of 8,000 DPI, while the Sync hub specifications give 4,000 DPI.
