HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless
Is the Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless right for you?
The Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless is HyperX's closed-back, over-ear wireless gaming headset, and it connects over 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth at the same time.
Best for
- Gaming on one device while you take calls on another. HyperX says you can "game with low latency 2.4 GHz performance on one device via USB-C or USB-A while handling calls or music with Bluetooth on another."
- Long stretches away from a charger. HyperX quotes up to 250 hours in 2.4GHz mode, or 125 hours with simultaneous connection.
Skip if
- You want noise cancelling. HyperX's product page doesn't list active noise cancelling.
- You want it wireless on an Xbox. HyperX's compatibility list gives Xbox as "3.5mm Connection Only".
Want to see it next to a keyboard and a mouse? Try it on the QuickDesker board and build a whole desk setup around it.

Prices change, so check the current one before you buy. HyperX sells it in Black. In the box, HyperX lists the headset, a base station, the detachable microphone, USB-C to USB-C cables, a USB-C to USB-A adapter, a 3.5 mm headset audio cable and a quick start guide.
HyperX lists it as compatible with PC, PS5, PS4, Switch, Mac and Mobile, and with Xbox over the 3.5 mm connection only. The warranty is 2 years.
How do 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth work together on the Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless?
HyperX lists the connection as Simultaneous 2.4 GHz & Bluetooth. A 2.4 GHz link usually has a shorter delay than Bluetooth, which matters more in a game than for music or calls. HyperX says the boom mic works in both 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth modes, or you can "go boomless for convenience." It also says the RGB base station lets you fine-tune your audio settings, adjust volume, and switch between devices.
It uses Bluetooth 5.2. HyperX gives the wireless range as up to 20 m. For wired listening, there's the 3.5 mm headset audio cable in the box. What each kind of headphone connection trades away is covered in our guide Bluetooth, USB-C, 3.5 mm or 2.4 GHz: Which Headphone Connection?
How long does the Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless take to charge, and what drivers does it use?
HyperX lists a charge time of 6 hours.
Inside are 53 mm dynamic drivers with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, which HyperX describes as multi-layer dual-chamber drivers. There's more on what driver size and frequency response tell you in our guide: What do headphone specs actually mean? Frequency response, impedance and driver size.
