Is the Tune 780NC right for you?
The Tune 780NC is a pair of over-ear Bluetooth headphones from JBL, with Adaptive Noise Canceling.

- Long stretches between charges. JBL quotes up to 76 hours with noise cancelling off and Bluetooth on, and up to 50 hours with both switched on.
- Moving between two devices. JBL says you can pair them with two Bluetooth devices and switch from one to the other.
Skip if
- You want a charging cable in the box. JBL says the charging cable is not included.

Prices change; check the one for the colour you want. JBL's product page shows it in Black, Blue, Lavender and White. JBL's box list names the headphones and a USB Type-C to analog 3.5mm cable.
For wired listening, JBL points to that same cable for Hi-Res audio, and lists the headphone cable as detachable and 1.2 m long. Wirelessly it uses Bluetooth 6.0, and JBL says its Headphones app lets you tailor the sound.
How long does the Tune 780NC's battery last?
JBL's figure is up to 76 hours with noise cancelling off and Bluetooth on, and up to 50 hours with noise cancelling and Bluetooth both on. Active cancelling runs microphones and processing the whole time it's on, which is why headphones usually quote a shorter figure with it switched on.
Need a top-up? JBL says a 5-minute speed charge gives you another 5 hours, and that a full recharge takes about two hours.
How does the Tune 780NC's noise cancelling work?
JBL lists the type as Adaptive Noise Canceling and says it automatically adjusts to tune out the distractions. Active cancelling picks up outside sound through microphones and plays an opposing signal to cancel it; an adaptive version changes how much it cancels as your surroundings change.
There's an Ambient Aware mode too, and JBL says it and TalkThru let you hear what's happening around you or jump into conversations without taking off your headphones. There's more on how a mode like that differs from cancelling in our guide: What “noise cancelling” actually means on a headphone box.
For calls, JBL says two beamforming mics pick up your voice, with noise reduction that it says filters out ambient sound. That cleans up your voice for the person you're talking to; it doesn't quiet the room for you.
