What we can tell you

A wired gaming headset that does something almost nothing else wired does: active cancellation, powered over the USB connection. It is also unusually well documented here: driver size, impedance, frequency response, weight and connections are all published. Two of the vendor’s own sources disagreed about whether it cancels at all, and the product page won over the category listing, which is why it is worth a second look before you rely on it.

  • Whether this cancels noise, and when

    JBL's own product page states active noise cancelling tuned for gaming, and JBL's own footnote adds that it works only over the USB cable. Connected by the 3.5 mm cable to a console or a phone, there is no active cancellation at all. One of JBL's category listings reported no cancellation for this model, which is consistent with that limit.

  • How this connects

    This is a wired headset. It also works over a 3.5 mm cable, but there is no radio in it at all, so nothing here runs without a cable.
