HyperX Cloud Stinger 3 (Wired)

HyperX Cloud Stinger 3 (Wired)

Is the Cloud Stinger 3 right for you?

The Cloud Stinger 3 is HyperX's closed-back, over-ear headset.

Best for

  • Voice chat with a mic you can swivel to mute. HyperX says you flip the boom mic down to chat or up to mute, and describes the microphone as noise-cancelling.

Skip if

  • You want noise cancelling for your own ears. HyperX's Cloud Stinger 3 product page doesn't list active noise cancelling.

A noise-cancelling mic and noise-cancelling headphones do different jobs, and our guide sorts one from the other: What “noise cancelling” actually means on a headphone box.

What do the Cloud Stinger 3's driver figures tell you?

HyperX's product page gives two driver sizes: its spec table lists dynamic 30 mm drivers with neodymium magnets, and its feature list says 50 mm. Driver diameter is the width of the speaker in each earcup, and on its own it doesn't tell you how a headphone sounds.

The spec table puts the frequency response at 20 Hz to 20 kHz, the range usually given for human hearing. There's more on what driver size and frequency response tell you in our guide: What do headphone specs actually mean? Frequency response, impedance and driver size.
